Pear variety assortment on the move

During the past couple of years, in Belgium and the Netherlands, the search for new pear varieties has been aimed at finding varieties with a red blush on the skin. During open days organised by the pcfruit research institute in Sint-Truiden (Belgium) and the Fruit Research Centre in Randwijk (the Netherlands) growers were updated on the latest research experiences with a couple of new varieties. 

In this article, the EFM editorial board summarises the information presented during the open days on the pear varieties that received most attention.
