Peach growers in trouble due to the closure of the Del Monte factory

Around 70 Californian peach growers have found themselves in trouble following the closure of two Del Monte canning factories. The closure is the result of Del Monte Foods’ bankruptcy in July 2025. Although the Del Monte name has been saved following the takeover by Fresh Del Monte Produce, the deal will not breathe new life into the closed processing plants. Due to the closure of the factories, the peach growers no longer have a buyer for 30 per cent of their harvest and face a loss of tens of millions of dollars. (Source: Freshfruitportal.com)
