Over 95,000 tonnes more pears in EU cold stores

According to the World Apple & Pear Association (WAPA), 766,482 tonnes of pears were stored in cold stores in the EU on 1 December. This is 14.2% more than the 671,029 tonnes in stock on the same date a year earlier. Compared to 2021, 2022 and 2023, there were also more pears in cold stores on 1 December. In Belgium and the Netherlands in particular, there were more pears in cold stores than a year earlier; in Italy, on the other hand, there were fewer (see table).
