8-7-2026

The variety and concept management company EFC (European Fruit Cooperation) is to work closely with Malus, based in South Tyrol (northern Italy). Malus owner Markus Bradlwarter will act as EFC’s ‘Global Variety Scout’, searching for, assessing and acquiring promising new apple and pear varieties worldwide, and ensuring that EFC gains access to these varieties.

Bradlwarter worked for 22 years at the South Tyrolean advisory service and subsequently spent 15 years as director of the Sortenerneuerungskonsortium Südtirol (SK Südtirol), the joint organisation of VOG and VIP for the search, testing and introduction of new apple varieties.
