Although growers typically rely on honeybees, the presence of wild pollinators such as wild bees and hoverflies plays a decisive role in ensuring good pollination of cherries

Recent Belgian research shows that natural elements in the landscape surrounding orchards substantially increase the flower visits of these wild bees. The study determined that at least 15% of natural elements in the orchard's surroundings are necessary to guarantee sufficient activity from wild pollinating insects.
