Germany imported fewer apples in 2025/2026

Between August 2025 and May 2026, Germany imported considerably fewer apples from other EU countries than during the same period a year earlier. Ursula Schockemöhle of Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) reported this at the Prognosfruit Congress on 6 August. Total imports fell from 480,000 to 355,000 tonnes. Imports from Poland (down from 80,400 to 26,400 tonnes) and Italy (from 228,400 to 170,900 tonnes) declined particularly sharply. (Source: Fruchthandel.de)
