European pears out of favour in China

In China, the consumption of pears is increasing and the surface area of pears is decreasing, but still things are not looking good for the export of pears from Europe to China. Especially Belgium and the Netherlands have taken a lot of trouble during the past couple of years, to get the export of Conference pears to China under way. However, flavour and texture of European pear varieties are not a sufficient match with the preferences of most Chinese.
