The European Commission has approved a proposal to make nearly €50 million available to support fruit, nut and vegetable growers in Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Romania. Farmers in these Member States have suffered significant damage as a result of adverse weather conditions in the spring of 2025.

Following approval by the Member States, the European Commission's proposal allocates €7.4 million to Bulgaria, €10.8 million to Hungary, €4.2 million to Latvia, €1.1 million to Lithuania, €14.8 million to Poland and €11.5 million to Romania. These countries can supplement this European aid with up to 200% from national funds.

In all six Member States, large parts of the fruit, vegetable, nut and seed harvest were destroyed by late frost in the spring of 2025, which in many cases was followed by hail or heavy rain. The emergency financial aid payments to growers in the countries mentioned must be made before 30 April 2026.
