Crop protection products have a greater impact on soil life than expected

Crop protection products have a greater impact on soil life than previously known. According to a new European study, plant protection product residues affect various beneficial soil organisms.

The study, published in the journal Nature, was conducted by an international panel of ten European research institutes, including the Swiss research station Agroscope and the University of Zurich. The scientists investigated the effects of 63 commonly used crop protection products on the soil and took a total of 373 soil samples from fields, forests and meadows in 26 European countries.
