Almost 500,000 tonnes more apples in cold stores

Almost 500,000 tonnes more apples in cold stores

On 1 December 2025, 4,755,119 tonnes of apples were stored in European cold stores. The World Apple & Pear Association (WAPA) announced this in mid-January 2026. This is 493,958 tonnes, or 11.6% more than the 4,261,161 tonnes stored in cold stores on 1 December 2024, and also more than on the same date in 2022 and 2023. In Poland and Germany in particular, there were significantly more apples in cold stores on 1 December 2025 than on 1 December 2024 (see table).
