Fresh Forward introduces Wursixo and Wuranda

With Wursixo and Wuranda, Dutch breeding company Fresh Forward introduces two new early-ripening apple varieties with a resistance against scab. Both varieties have SQ159 – better-known under the brand names Natyra®, Magic Star® and Sprank® – and Honeycrisp for their parents.
After paying for a licence per tree, every fruit grower is free to produce and sell the apples of Wursixo and Wuranda. For both varieties, Fresh Forward is going to announce a brand name that fruit growers are free to use. Both varieties will have to establish their familiarity with the public, under their own steam and helped along by fruit growers – but without a centrally organised marketing campaign. A concept therefore, that is comparable to that of Fresco/Wellant®.
