Production costs cherries rising, profitability under pressure

Partly due to the war in Ukraine, during the past few years, prices for various means of production have risen sharply. Labour costs have also risen in various countries during the past year. Martin Kockerols and Matthias Görgens of the research station in North German Jork calculated that due to risen costs, production costs of cherries grown under a cover have increased by € 0.41 per kilo, or 15% between 2020 and 2023.
