No, it’s not a joke. Plants can talk. Well, talk … they can communicate by making sound when they are short of water, for example, are affected by fungi or attacked by insects or mites. Humans cannot hear the sound, but some animals can.
For the first time in the world, researchers from the university in Tel Aviv (TAU) recorded and analysed sounds distinctly emitted by plants. They used ultrasonic microphones for this. These microphones can record sounds with frequencies which cannot be detected by human.
