“Stop producing cherries in Germany”

Producing cherries to sell to supermarkets no longer makes any sense for German cherry growers. The supermarkets prefer cheap imported cherries to regionally produced produce. During the Steinobstseminar in German Ahrweiler, in early December 2022, a confrontational mirror was held up to stone fruit growers present. The statement of Greek tree nursery man and cherry specialist Johannes Rodivitis “Stop producing cherries in Germany and come to Greece”, caused a lot of commotion and discussion.
